How to read these records
Which companies
Three tests, all from the IBBI's list of public announcements: the announcement opens a liquidation or a voluntary liquidation; it was published since January 2023; and the debtor's name carries a company form (Private Limited, Limited, LLP). Announcements about individuals and personal guarantors are left out, and so are hospitals, schools and health or education businesses, recognised by their names.
Two kinds of liquidation
Liquidation: a liquidator sells the company's assets for its creditors, often after an insolvency resolution process that found no plan. Voluntary liquidation: a solvent company is closed by its shareholders. Companies still in an insolvency resolution process (CIRP) are not listed: they keep operating, and many leave the process with a resolution plan.
Who decides
The liquidator controls the company's assets during the liquidation. This site does not name them: the announcement published by the IBBI does.
What is not here
Names of insolvency professionals, applicants or any individual. Addresses. Corporate identification numbers, which the announcement list does not give. Announcements before 2023. Companies in an insolvency resolution process. Any headcount: the IBBI list has none.
